The conference room in the Best Western Hotel right next to the BikiniARTmuseum was packed. Here people drew, painted, glued, discussed, laughed and above all, a lot of art was made under the guidance of Sabine Amelung. The participants proudly presented their very different works of art. The starting point were the women who fought for their right to swim in the first three decades of the 20th century and thus for adequate swimwear - without you there would be no swimwear.
Sabine Amelung inspired with different stories. "Even in our time, WomenPower is changing world history: modern women who neither feel they belong to a party nor want to follow a mainstream, nor do they intend to create fashions, defy prohibitions and rules because they no longer want to endure injustice and disregard, because they cannot help it, because an inner urge to express themselves about their actions, about their presence, about publications and media effectiveness strengthens them in precisely those places where social wounds gape. The creativity that develops from this anger and from this courage calls for participation, for responsible action. In this art workshop, we want to make it equal to these women. We take the personal occasion of these strong women as a theme in order to gain creative access and thus a position on current questions of women's self-determination and responsible action. The offer is aimed at people who would like to learn more about the exciting history of FrauenPower over the past decades and who would like to implement this through the use of visual means such as drawing, painting, collage and cutout. "was the invitation to all participants.
"Within my work as a visual artist as well as in the field of mediation I experience the use of artistic-creative strategies as a multi-layered approach to different social topics that can be experienced and internalized.
